The fund

Exchange Traded Fund

ETF

A fund holding an asset basket and issuing exchange-traded shares, each owning a slice of the basket. A DETF removes the managing company.

Basket

A fund's assets, represented by its shares; in a DETF, held in a smart contract rather than a custodian's account.

Net Asset Value

NAV

Total fund asset value divided by shares: each share's underlying worth, not its trading price. DETF redemptions pay NAV directly from the contract.

Share token

Fund shares in your wallet, issued on deposit and burned to exit. Ordinary tokens, transferable and tradable.

Mint & burn

Creating and destroying tokens: the contract mints shares on deposit and burns them on redemption, keeping supply aligned with ownership.

Treasury

Members' collective ETH/SOL and purchased assets. Nobody holds the keys; only passed votes can spend, and every movement is public.

Burn-for-share exit

The redemption behind Guaranteed Exit Rights: burn shares for a contract-paid, pro-rata treasury share at NAV, anytime without permission.

Governance

Smart contract

A blockchain program that holds assets and automatically enforces rules without an operator, letting a fund run without a company.

Decentralised Autonomous Organisation

DAO

An organisation whose membership, voting and spending rules are enforced by smart contracts, not managers. Every DETF is a DAO with tiers, weighted seats and exit rights.

Tier

An on-chain rank with permissions, an entry rule, salaries and chat. Every DETF starts with four, from an open bottom tier to founders.

Deep dive: Tiers & entry rules

Board seat

A voting bloc held by a tier or all token holders. Seats divide 100% of board weight; each counts only for its published share.

Deep dive: The weighted board

Weighted voting

DETF's alternative to one-token-one-vote: fixed-percentage seats must combine to pass proposals, so the largest wallet cannot decide alone.

Deep dive: Weighted voting

Soulbound token

SBT

A non-transferable, unsellable token. DETF tier badges are soulbound: they prove membership; rank cannot be bought from another member.

Proposal

A typed, recorded suggestion for a group vote: buy, sell, pay salaries or restructure tiers. Its action-generated title prevents misrepresentation.

Deep dive: Proposals & lifecycle

Timelock

A mandatory delay between passage and execution, letting dissenters take their share and leave before the action takes effect.

Deep dive: Proposals & lifecycle

Signed vote

A free, instant, verifiable vote by cryptographic signature, not transaction. Off-chain groups use signed votes, which boards must execute faithfully.

Deep dive: Off-chain vs on-chain

Kill switch

Every group's permanent spending shutdown; withdrawals remain open forever. Yes votes need half the share tokens or half the group's total voting weight. Execution is immediate because a kill cannot move money.

Deep dive: The kill switch

Permissionless

Open to anyone: executing passed votes after timelocks, triggering migration bridges after transfer dates, or posting quotes. The contract fixes the outcome regardless of who acts.

Migration & markets

Migration

A community launch using an existing token: members' deposits sell for treasury ETH/SOL, and depositors receive proportionate newly minted group shares.

Deep dive: Deposit & Sell migrations

Standing quote book

On-chain standing bids for migrating tokens. Deposits settle instantly at the best quote in the same transaction, without auctions or waiting.

Deep dive: The standing quote book

Market maker

Anyone running a quote-posting bot. Makers compete permissionlessly, earning the spread between their quote and the tokens' value to them.

Chains & plumbing

Ethereum Virtual Machine

EVM

Ethereum's runtime, shared by compatible chains. Here, “EVM” means DETF's Ethereum side, not Solana.

Wallet

An app holding your keys for on-chain identity and signatures. DETF combines multiple wallets across chains into one profile.

Gas

A transaction-processing fee paid to the blockchain network, not DETF. Off-chain signed votes make routine voting gasless.

Non-Fungible Token

NFT

A unique token; holding a specific NFT can be a DETF tier's entry rule.

Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol

CCIP

Chainlink's messaging network, used by DETF to deliver tokens between EVM and Solana so groups can span both.

Deep dive: Cross-chain (EVM ↔ Solana)

Merkle airdrop

Token distribution committing the recipient list as one on-chain cryptographic fingerprint. Recipients claim with proofs, keeping distribution cheap for thousands.

Deep dive: Bots, notifications & airdrops

Testnet

A practice network with valueless tokens. DETF currently runs on Ethereum Sepolia and Solana devnet — never send mainnet funds to DETF contracts.
