Frequently Asked Questions

General

Learn what a DETF is, its costs, and current networks.

What is a DETF?+
A Decentralised Exchange Traded Fund: an ETF without a fund company. A smart contract holds the asset basket, deposits become shares redeemable at NAV, and an on-chain organisation manages it through tiers, percentage-based voting and proposals. See the documentation.
Why does the transparency matter?+
Proposals, votes, salaries and treasury movements are public through member profiles and the transaction ledger: check actions and costs directly, without relying on reports. See how a DETF compares.
Is DETF live on mainnet?+
No — only Ethereum Sepolia testnet and Solana devnet. Never send mainnet funds to DETF contracts.
Does DETF cost anything to use?+
Browsing and joining are free; off-chain voting is gasless. On-chain actions cost network gas. Token launches mint a 1% platform fee from supply; advertising outflows incur 1%. Governance and treasuries have no platform fee.

Governance

Votes use weight, not headcount, and exit does not depend on winning.

Why tiers instead of one-token-one-vote?+
Flat token voting gives the largest holder control. Tiers assign roles permissions and voting weight, preserving contributors' say beyond what tokens can buy. See tiers & entry rules.
How does weighted voting work?+
Each board seat has a weight. A tier casts its whole weight according to its members' votes (token holders by balance). The pass mark exceeds the heaviest seat, preventing any seat deciding alone. See weighted voting.
Can my money be spent on something I voted against?+
No — passed spends enter a public queue. Withdraw your full treasury share at NAV before execution; only those remaining bear the spend. See treasury & exit.
Can a group be shut down?+
Yes — every group's irreversible kill switch passes with either half the tokens or half the voting weight. It ends the group without touching its money; withdrawals remain open indefinitely. See the kill switch.
Can a single founder run a DETF alone?+
Yes — one founder is a valid board from day one; approval numbers adjust as founders join.
How do I move up a tier?+
Click Join DETF on the group page to enter the open tier without permission. Higher tiers require a vote, deposit or set token balance; communities promote contributors by vote. Ask in the group's chat.

Creating & migrating

Launch in one transaction or migrate an old token into the new treasury.

How do I launch a DETF?+
In the create wizard, select an existing token or mint one, set tiers and deploy. One transaction deploys and connects all contracts, then opens your group page.
What happens when I migrate an existing token?+
Deposited old tokens sell instantly at the best standing quote, funding the new treasury. Depositors receive new tokens 1:1; unsold tokens follow the group's leftover policy. See Deposit & Sell.

Wallets & accounts

Your wallet is your account, with unlimited linked wallets and free signing.

Which wallets are supported?+
EVM wallets (MetaMask and other injected wallets) and Solana wallets (Phantom). Pair multiple accounts per chain and choose a default. Transactions route to the correct chain's wallet; Phantom won't hijack EVM transactions.
Do I need an email or password?+
No. Sensitive actions use a free, non-transaction message signature to prove wallet control.
How do I link my Telegram, Discord, or Twitter account?+
Message the bot (e.g. @DETFcomBOT on Telegram), open its personal connect link and connect your wallet. Linked accounts receive chat notifications and claim group airdrops with /claim.

Cross-chain & advertising

Tokens move across chains, and viewers earn from advertising.

How does the Solana bridge work?+
Chainlink CCIP carries EVM messages that mint native SPL tokens on Solana, not wrapped assets. A Solana quote-book market relays deposits into EVM mints. Live on devnet.
How does watch-to-earn advertising work?+
Advertisers fund campaigns (minimum 0.1 ETH) and pay per verified view. Viewers earn a share, paid from the platform's claim ledger with a 1% outflow fee. Each ad needs the displaying DETF's governance approval. See Advertise.
